The Can Do initiative oversees the Can Do Project and Can Do Little Lives. The Can Do Project was launched in Spring 2015, with the aim of brining positivity to young adults who are living with kidney disease. Despite being told quite often what they cannot do because of their condition, the project emphasises what they can do, building their confidence by providing tools and encouragement to face such challenges.
Since the launch, the Can Do Project ambassadors have undertaken workshops concentrating on self – esteem, motivation and positivity, socialising events and activity weekends.
Following the success of the Can Do Project, Can Do Little Lives has been set up to help the youngest of our patients and their carers understand their condition and to offer a network of support for them. Kidney Wales back packs are supplied for the children which contains and activity pack for the children, a parents book and their very own D-DOG a great companion for their hospital visits. A Christmas party is organised annually to enjoy a fun filled festive afternoon with their families, a highlight for many of our younger patients and their families.
